Be Prepared for Tricky Job Interview Questions!!

A winning resume paves your way towards job interview and your performance in the job interview decides whether you will be able to get the job or not. Most of us have been looking for our dream job that matches our profile and still pays us the best but somehow we can't get it. We follow best job interview practices but during an interview some question makes us silent. Well no more worries as today we will discuss such tricky job interview questions that will help you avoid the interview blunder and get your dream job in your upcoming job interview.

What are your weaknesses?

One of the trickiest questions being asked in almost all job interviews is to tell about our weaknesses. Never go into detailed explanation of your weaknesses and use your weakness to your advantage by putting a positive spin on it. Everyone has weaknesses so never pretend that you do not have any weaknesses.

Tell me about the worst boss you ever had:

This is the biggest trap of all. Do not give into the temptation to give vent to any past frustrations. If you fall for it and tell about a problem with a former boss, you may well below the interview right there.

Why did you leave your last job?

Be cautious about these kinds of questions, present everything in a positive light and make sure you do not end up sounding bitter. Never talk down about my former company, the boss, or my former co-workers.

Why do you want to work here?

These types of questions are asked to have an idea about your homework before the interview. Doing research is extremely important in answering these questions. Use this opportunity to demonstrate what you know about the company, how your experience relates to it and how you fit into it. Keep the focus on this job and what you can do for this organization.

Do you have experience in this field?

In order to answer this question you should be specific to the points that relate to the position you are applying for. Even if you do not have specific experience then try to get as much close as you can.

Do you consider yourself Successful?

The answer to such question should be a ‘yes'. Along with it you should briefly explain why do you consider yourself successful and tell them about some goals that you were able to achieve.

So why should we hire you?

Remember there will be lots of candidates applied for this position and your answer should make you stand out among others. Give real examples and mention your achievements, experiences that show them you are truly valuable to the company. Do not mention any other candidates to make a comparison. You must focus on yourself and not on other people's flaws.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

One question that mostly interviewers ask and that cost most of us the job is to tell where do we see ourselves in say 5 years. The incorrect answer is that you want to open up a business just like this one. Also an interviewer does not want to hear that your five-year aspiration is to work in a different industry. You need to talk about goals you have that relate to the job and demonstrate that you understand the industry, the company and are motivated to succeed there.

If we hire you then how long can we expect you to work for us?

Do not give specific answers like 2 years, 5 years or 10 years. A better option is to say that you are looking for a long-term career opportunity or you can say that you will be willing to work as long as we both feel that I am doing a good job.

What lesson have you learned from mistakes on the job?

Do not start telling about the mistakes you have done. Nobody is interested in hiring personnel who do blunders one after the other. Tell them briefly about a well intentioned mistake with a positive lesson learned.

What salary do you expect?

This is a tricky game to play in an interview and mostly you lose if you answer it first. Remember you want as much as you can and the interviewer wants to hire you for as minimum as possible. Before you apply you should have a good idea of what someone with your specific experience should be paid.

If you are confident that you will get a specific figure then go for it and say that I think someone with my experience should get between X and Y. Or you can ask the interviewer about salary range for that position. You can say that it depends on the details of the job and then give a wide range between X and Y.

Do you have any questions for me?

One question that will be asked for sure at the end of interview is that if you have any questions or not. This question directly relates to the research you've done on the company and also gives you a chance to show how eager and prepared you are. Be prepared for the questions you can ask as a blank stare can spoil your interview.

Final Words:

To conclude I would say that if you are well-prepared for your job interview then you will be able to answer questions with confidence. Remember the interview is meant to uncover if you are a good fit and can make a positive contribution in the job. So get prepared and we wish you Good Luck for your upcoming Job Interview.
